Due to Monday being a rainy day ( hello, it had been rain, rain, rain almost every day) we decided to go for a long walk through the Toronto underground mall system- stretching for more than +6 blocks from Front St to Dundas St- it was the perfect thing to do on a rainy day!
Coming above ground at Dundas square- concerts etc are held here during better weather
This walk also went through the famous Eaton Center -a huge 3 storey mall in downtown Toronto
Inside one of the beautiful downtown buildings
An of course the CN Tower- tallest structure
And found time to take my grandson Bryan, his girlfriend Amanda and his sister out for diner.
On the Wednesday, we took the subway downtown and met our friend Lucy and went to see the Blue Jays loose yet another one! We are bad luck for whatever team we seem to be routing for!!!
The Subway train approaching our station- one comes every 2 minutes or so during rush hour.
Diner with Lucy before the game- this restaurant served wild game burgers- YUM!
Walking towards ball park- interesting TO scenes
And more
And inside the ball park
This is Uwe's sister's house in the east end close to downtown area- she & husband Mitch are sitting on porch out front sipping their martinis!
And a typical street scene in their upper beaches neighborhood
On yet another cloudy/foggy day we took a walk down to the beaches area.
During hot summer weather it's like being in California- full of sun-starved Torontonians!!!
However the day we went for a walk- not so nice but yet very scenic.
Another day when the weather was slightly more conducive to beaching!
Volley ball on the beach
And sun-starved Canadians on the beach
And the boardwalk which runs for miles along the lake shore- note CN Tower in background
On a more sunny day, we went to the Distillery District- a part of old Toronto where all the distilleries used to operate ( the ones who make booze-LOL) and has now been turned into a trendy outdoor/indoor restaurant and art tourist location.
Goods & Mitch in front of yet another Brew Pub- geez Uwe finds them everywhere!!!
Some interesting statues
And more CN Tower pictures from the Distillery District
And of course, another lunch at the Brew Pub
Towards the end of that week, we met my Indian daughter, Sharmila , and her family for lunch in Toronto's little India- great Indian food!
