Aug. 21- 27- Week 10 in Italy

On Sunday the 21st of August, we decided to do a picnic up in Piancavallo where it is generally 10'C cooler then home. The kids had stayed in Maniago on Saturday night for two reasons- our air-conditioner was not working yet again in Fiume Veneto ( temp was a balmy 40'C) and Fab's parents were away at the beach in Caorle so the Maniago apartment was vacant ( and air-conditioned). Uwe and I stayed behind and actually appreciated a night alone as I'm sure our hosts did as well.

We met in Maniago and all went in Fab's car up the mountain to Piancavallo loaded with food, vino, beer and lawn chairs.  After a 30 minute drive we got to the top and looked around for a picnic spot.

After much cheese, bread, veggies, vino and birra, we decided to take the chair lift to the top. No need to go back to the heat any earlier than necessary!

The views from the top are incredible plus it looks like a pretty interesting place to ski.

We had yet another brew at the restaurant at the top of this lift.

When we got back down we decided to go on the Piancavallo version of the Slide Ride. This one was exactly the same as the new one at Blue Mountain in Collingwood.

The curves and length were very similar as well.

Later that week Nicole and I went to a public pool in the village of Sequals approximately 25 minutes from home. For those of you keeping track you may have noticed everywhere is approximately 25 minutes from home- Italian time!

The pool was in a great setting- lots of trees and grass plus a great little restaurant/bar- what more could you want.

Nicole & I had a great time- swimming, people watching, having a couple of spritzes plus a nice lunch- a perfect girls' afternoon.
