After two
months of travelling both in Canada visiting my son, grandson and family, and
my niece and nephew and theirs as well as various friends plus my husband’s
family, and in Italy visiting my daughter and her husband, I finally arrived
back in Ecuador on July 20th.
My plane
left Toronto around 2:45PM, with a quick pass through Miami and a change of
planes to arrive in Guayaquil, Ecuador by 10:30PM. After a quick trip through
immigration with my brand new visa stamp on my passport (and no, they do NOT
ask for your Cedula) and no questions or ex-rays in customs, I met my friend
Eddie and we proceeded on our two hour trip to Salinas. I arrived home after 1AM
and didn’t make it to bed until after 3AM- lots to talk about with my husband
that I hadn’t seen for 5 weeks!! LOL
Since this
is our first summer in Salinas, what is the weather like. Well, I have yet to see the sun. That said,
the temperature is great, low 20C’s during the day and much cooler at night-
perfect for sleeping. You would probably wonder why a place 2 degrees south of the equator is so cool. Well, it's all due to the Humboldt current- a cold water current along the west coast of South America- see link http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corriente_de_Humboldt.
We’ve taken long walks along the beach, and,yes, there are still people sitting and swimming- brrrrr. And we’ve taken many long walks around town. So if you enjoy hiking/walking the weather is pretty perfect. If you want to sit on the beach and swim in the ocean, come between November and April. The other wonderful thing about this time of the year, is the whales! Yes, we have whales swimming by and whale watching tours that we still need to do, hopefully next week. My first day back, we saw a few from our condo balcony- how great is that!

Next week as
well, we start the renovation of our kitchen- a complete tear down and rebuild-
as well as replacing most of our doors and windows plus all our floors. We will
be living for at least two months in absolute bedlam. Stay tuned for my next
